2024 Spring Show – “The Big Snooze” & “Bite Me”

The TOADS Spring Show for 2024 was a double bill of two short comedy murder mystery plays written by Bruce Kane, “The Big Snooze” and “Bite Me”, featuring hard-boiled private eye “Dick Shamus”

In the first adventure, “fictional detective” Shamus sets out to find who killed his old pal Humpty Dumpty, then for the second adventure he heads to Transylvania to investigate the disappearance of the country’s virgins.

These quirky plays are in the “radio play” or “script in hand” format – they are written to be performed by actors at microphones reading from scripts (in the style of an old-time radio broadcast) but performed to a live audience.

Auditions were held in the Christy Hall, Old Alresford on Sunday 17th March 2024 at 6pm.

Rehearsals started on Sunday 24th Match at 7pm, and ran until show week.

Shows took place on Tuesday 14th May 2024, Friday 17th May 2024 and Saturday, 18th May 2024 at 7:30pm each evening.

A recording of the show is available at https://payhip.com/toads, where you can download “Act 1 – The Big Snooze” and “Act 2 – Bite Me” in MP3 format to play on your chosen device. The download is free but you can optionally choose to pay a donation. All profits from these downloads will be donated to our chosen charity for 2024, The Alresford Pigs.
